In the Dog-House No More

Today after I got home from work, I was feeling very ambitious, so, much to my wife's chagrin, I went ahead and started to tear the dog kennel out from the side of the garage. Remember that thing?

Though I'm sure a dog kennel can come in very handy in some situations, we're both people who just don't see ourselves owning a large dog that would justify something like that. So two blisters, a sweaty shirt, and an hour later, I was able to tear out all of the fencing.

Now my next big feat is going to be tearing out the cemented poles. I may need to get a hacksaw.

You may be asking yourself, Cameron, what are you going to do about that giant slab of cement that is clearly connected to the garage? And that's a great question, one I was thinking about most of the time I was tearing the fencing out.

I think we're going to leave the slab where it's at and create a raised flower bed that covers the cement and acts as a guide for a sidewalk I'll be building from the driveway to the garden shed. Bordering it off with some fancy bricks that are 16" high or so. I have a hard time foreseeing what some things will look like, and I know my description is doing a disservice to my imagination, but I think this will work. I'll try finding a software program online that will better visualize what I'm talking about.

In the mean time, phase 2.1 is complete!

  1. I don't know if you found anything for the rendering -- but I found these links on Lifehacker. Someday when I have a garden I hope I remember these links...
